Court jails mason six months for fraud

Twifo Praso (C/R) June 24, GNA- Kofi Abotsi a 19-yea-old mason was on Thursday sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Twifo Praso district magistrate court for stealing a bicycle valued at 480,000 cedis, property of one Mr Kwaku Bosompem. Abotsi pleaded guilty to fraud by false pretences and was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting chief inspector Tanor, told the court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay, that on June 19 this year, Abotsi hired a bicycle from Mr Bosompem who rents bicycles for an hour but failed to return it that same day until the next day when he was spotted and arrested by Mr Bosompem. He said during investigation, Abotsi led police to Twifo Heman to retrieve the bicycle, which he pledged to a friend at 120,000 cedis.
