Court jails mason 25 years for defilement

Kumasi, Oct. 6, GNA – A 26-year-old mason has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for defiling a 10-year old girl. George Donkor pleaded guilty to the crime. Police Chief Inspector Mary Nana Adwoa Affanyi told the court presided over by Justice William Boampong that the victim lives with the father at Konkromoase near Atasomanso in Kumasi, where Donkor also resides. She said at about 1600 hours on October 1, the girl was sent by the mother to buy fish to prepare their evening meal and as she was returning from the errand the convict beckoned her and she innocently obliged. He grabbed her by the hand and dragged her into a nearby farm where he sexually abused her amidst screams by the girl. The prosecution said after satisfying his sexual urge, Donkor let go the victim.

He attempted coaxing her to keep to herself the bitter experience she had been taken through but that failed. The little girl cried all the way to the house to inform the father about the incident.
