Court jails man six years for threat of death

Fred Kwaku Agyei, an unemployed charged with threat of death, attempt to commit suicide and carrying fire-arm without lawful authority, has been jailed six years by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court.

Agyei, 36, pleaded guilty to all the three counts of charges.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that Agyei lives at Akim Abenase with Madam Ama Agyeiwaa the complainant and a family member to the convict.

Inspector Appiah said sometime ago the convict inflicted cutlass wounds on his own brother and Madam Agyeiwaa reported the matter to the Police and he was arrested and sentenced.

After serving the prison term Agyei accused Madam Agyeiwaa of contributing to his conviction and thus threatened to kill her and the daughter and then kill himself.

The prosecutor said on December 10, 2012 at about 1000 hours Agyei took a locally manufactured pistol and threatened to kill the complainant in the house.

Madam Agyeiwaa sensing danger rushed to the Police Station and lodged a complaint. They Police came to Akim Abenase to cause the arrest of the convict but he Agyei managed to run away and returned to the house the next day.

He was later re-arrested and prosecuted.
