Court jails labourer for stealing a Pastor’s bicycle

Sekondi, Feb. 1, GNA- A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Thursday sentenced Stephen Afful, a 23-year old labourer, to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing a ‘mountain’ bicycle valued at GH¢75 belonging to a Pastor. He pleaded guilty. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Eben Darko said on January 30 this year, the accused bought sweet potato from the wife of Pastor Gabriel Otchere at Kojokrom.

He said after eating the potato, the accused requested for water to drink and while the wife was away, he picked the bicycle, which was parked nearby and rode away. Chief Inspector Darko said Pastor Otchere, who was standing nearby, chased the accused and arrested him with the help of some people. The accused admitted the offence during Police interrogation and was charged.
