Court jails farmer for defiling 10 year- old girl

The Tarkwa Circuit Court on Tuesday sentenced a 50 year-old farmer to 20 years imprisonment for defiling a 10 year old primary two pupil at Nsadweso near Atieku Akyempim in the Western region.

Daniel Ohene who pleaded guilty is said to have defiled the victim four times. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on May 10, around 1330 hours, the victim who lives with her mother, Madam Alberta Koffie went to the outskirts of the town to search for mushrooms.

While returning home, Ohene whose house is located at the outskirt of the town called her under the pretext of asking her to run errands for her and lured her into his room and defiled her after which he gave her one cedi and warned her not to disclose what had happened to anyone.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said the following day Ohene went to the victim’s house and asked her to go and wait for him in his room. The victim’s mother, who was then in the room, demanded from her daughter what business she had with the convict after he had left.

The victim narrated her ordeal to her mother and she reported the matter to the Ateiku Akyempim police.
