Court jails farmer 10 years for defiling nine-year-old girl

Aflao, March 18, GNA – A 20-year-old farmer, Johnson Gomashie, was on Thursday jailed 10 years by an Aflao Circuit Court for defiling a co-tenant’s nine-year old daughter who is currently in primary school. Gomashie, who pleaded guilty, said the Court had been unfair to him after having spent 300,000 cedis on hospital bills for the treatment of the victim.

Police Inspector Abraham Tetteh of the Denu police station told the Court, presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah, that Gomashie, lived with his wife in the same house at Denu where the victim also resided with the her aunty.

He said Gomashie took advantage of the absence of his wife and the victim’s aunty on December 10 last year and lured the girl to the beach where he sexually abused her.

Mr Tetteh said the victim’s aunty chanced upon the two in an obscure corner while returning home and confronted them. He said the victim then narrated her ordeal at the hands of Gomashie, showing bloodstains on her underwear.

Mr Tetteh said a report was made to the Police and the victim sent to the hospital where it was confirmed that she had been carnally known.
