Court issues warrant for the arrest of banker

Nsawam (E/R) Aug.30, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Nsawam, on Thursday issued a warrant for the arrest of a bank clerk for allegedly absconding with GH¢120,400.00 belonging to her employers. Efforts by officials of the bank at Nsawam to contact Priscilla Santos Boampong, 24, have proved futile. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alex Kwadjo Wowolo, Akuapem South municipal Police Commander, told GNA at Nsawam that Anastacia Acheampong, also a staff of the bank, who has been granted bail by the court, was helping the Police in investigations into the theft. The Municipal Police Commander said that the Chief Cashier of the bank in April this year detected financial anomalies on the part of Boampong, who had worked with the bank, for about four years. DSP Wowolo said Boampong confessed that she did not record monies she received from customers the previous day and pleaded with management of the bank to give her time to refund the amount. The Municipal Police Commander said Boampong refunded GH¢12,372.00 to the bank and absconded. DSP Wowolo said Boampong is believed to be hiding at Kwame-Danso in the Brong Ahafo Region or in Kasoa in the Central region. 30 Aug 09
