Court issues warrant for pastor’s arrest

Accra, Sept 9, GNA – The Adjabeng Court ‘1’ on Wednesday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Pastor Victor Annan of the Faith Demonstration Ministry International at Darkuman for failing to appear in court to answer charges of excessive noise making by the church members.

The prosecutor, Miss Linda Kumbuno of the Metropolitan Public Health Department (MPHD), told the court presided over by Miss Mariam Sinare that the accused was supposed to have appeared on September 6, 2010 but failed to do so, and that the case was adjourned to September 8, 2010 but again he failed to appear, hence the need for the issuance of the bench warrant for his arrest.

Miss Kumbuno said the accused appeared on July 12 and was ordered to produce a permit, in addition to which he was restrained from making excessive noise in the church premises.

She said the accused was also ordered not to conduct his church activities late into the night and to inspect whether the place he was worshipping was designated for only residential purposes.

The court adjourned the case again to September 15, 2010 for hearing.
