Court issues warrant for arrest of four suspects

Tarkwa (W/R), Feb 5, GNA-A Tarkwa circuit court on Tuesday issued a bench warrant for the arrest and detention of four suspects connected with a case in which Nana Yaw Gyebi II, Omanhene of the Sefwi-Anhwiaso traditional area is standing trial for destruction of property.

The four suspects who failed to appear before the court after criminal summons had been issued on them are Richard Adjei, Yaw Donkor, Okyeame Nkrumah alias ‘Red’ and Yaw Mensah.

The case has been adjourned to February 15, while all others who were arrested in connection with the case including 11 others who were later arrested also in connection with the case, were granted bail in the sum of 20 million cedis each.

They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges, including abetment of crime, causing damage, threat of death and rescuing a suspect from lawful custody.

The facts of the case are that on New Year’s eve, Nana Yaw Gyebi led a group of land guards armed with guns and other offensive weapons to demolish seven stores being constructed and which had reached lintel level being developed by one Richard Ackah. Feb. 5 05
