Court issues warrant for arrest of chainsaw operator

Abuakwa (Ash), June 29, GNA – The Nkawie circuit court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Kofi Ansah, described by the police as a notorious chainsaw operator, who operates in the Atwima Nwabiagya and Ahafo Ano South districts.

The order followed the burning down of survey equipment valued at 113.8 million cedis belonging to the Forestry Services Division at Dotiem in the Ahafo Ano South district by Ansah. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Abuakwa on Tuesday, Assistant Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Akonnor in charge of the Abuakwa District said officials of the Forestry Services Division seized some swan lumber belonging to Ansah.

The seizure of the lumber, he said, infuriated Ansah who under the cover of darkness, poured petrol on the camp used by the forest officials and set it ablaze resulting in the destruction of the equipment.
