Court grants labourer bail for defecating in classroom

Nyinahin (Ash), Jan. 26, GNA – The Nyinahin Magistrate Court on Friday granted a 21-year-old labourer 2.5 million cedis bail for defecating in the classrooms of the Seventh-Day Adventist Primary School at Nnipankyeremia in the Atwima-Mponua District of Ashanti. Kwabena Aboagye, who pleaded not guilty, will re-appear on February 8.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector G. K. Letsah told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Sarfo Acquah that, some uncivilised people at Nnipankyeremia had been using the school’s classrooms for toilets. He said as a result, the teachers in the school have refused to attend classes.

Chief Inspector Letsah said the chiefs and elders of the town, authorised members of the town’s neighbourhood watch committee to keep watch on the school.

He said on November 16, 2004, at about 0600 hours, Aboagye was caught defecating in one of the classrooms and was arrested and handed over to the Nyinahin police.

Chief Inspector Letsah said during interrogations, Aboagye admitted the offence and after investigations, he was charged with the offence.
