Court grants farmer five million cedis bail

Mankranso (Ash), Dec 17, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court last Monday granted a 22-year-old farmer five million cedis bail for assaulting a 32-year-old woman at Nyamebekyere in the Ahafo-Ano South district of Ashanti. Akwasi Badu pleaded guilty and will re-appear on December 20.

Police Inspector Edwin Dei-Offei told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on August 28, this year, a misunderstanding arose between Madam Abena Tawiah, the complainant and the mother of the accused while fetching water in a stream. He said Badu upon hearing this went straight to the stream in an angry mood and without finding out the cause of the misunderstanding pounced on the complainant and beat her up mercilessly until she was rushed to the Bechem Government Hospital. Inspector Dei-Offei said a report was therefore made to the Pokukrom police who arrested him and after interrogation charged him with the offence.
