Court grants driver 20 million-cedi bail

Nyinahin (Ash), Oct 29, GNA- The Nyinahin Magistrate’s court on Wednesday granted a 30-year-old driver 20 million cedis bail with one surety to be justified for careless driving.

Anthony Apaka pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on November 2. Police Inspector Raphael Dan-Mensah told the court that at about 1300 hours on June 22, 2002, the accused who was driving a Land Rover from Accra to Bibiani in an attempt to avoid a pothole lost control of the vehicle.

He said in the process, he knocked down and killed a 42-year-old farmer, Peter Amoako who was returning from his farm, killing him instantly. Inspector Dan-Mensah said the case was reported to the police and after investigations charged Apaka. 29 Oct. 04
