Court grants couple 10 million cedis bail

Mankranso (Ash), Oct. 01, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court has granted a farmer and his wife, 10 million cedis bail for assault. Kofi Dwomo, 50, and his wife, Abena Pokuaah, 46, all pleaded guilty to the charge and will re-appear on October 18.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Francis Asante told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that, on August 1, this year, a quarrel ensued between Dwomo and Peter Ayaaba, the complainant at Bosompra Cottage, near Nsuta.

He said the two were at loggerheads over a padlock, which was damaged by the complainant, and so when the quarrel broke out, Dwomo did not waste time but rushed on the complainant and booted him down and rained blows on him.

Inspector Asante said to free himself from the ordeal, the complainant attempted grabbing the testicles of the accused but missed and instead held the pair of trousers he was wearing. The prosecution said Dwomo’s wife, who thought her husband was in trouble, grabbed a piece of firewood and brought it down on Ayaaba. He said later both Ayaaba and Dwomo reported the case to the Pokukrom police, who after investigations charged the couple with the offence.
