Court grants bail to two persons

An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday granted bail to two persons in the sum of GH?250,000.00 with three sureties each; one each to be justified, for conspiracy to commit crime and defrauding.

The two, Kouame Serge, student, Djo Adem Aboubakar, unemployed and Tsango Jean Fabrice, trader pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The court, however, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Ignatus Che, marine mechanic and Zoe Gislian for failing to appear before it.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Cletus Abadamlora told the court that the complainant in the case is a businessman.

He said on August 4, complainant had a phone call from a foreign number and the caller introduced himself as a businessman in the United Kingdom and that they has business branches in Ghana, Cameroun and Senegal.

He said the caller told the complainant that if he was interested, he could help him to grow his business.

The prosecution said the complainant discussed the issue with his brother and decided to invest into the business.

DSP Abadamlora said on August 6, the same year, the accused persons asked the complainant to pay membership registration fee of $20,000, which he did.

“On August 10, accused persons called to say they were dispatching a technician from Senegal and that the complainant should meet him at the Airport at 9am,” he said.

He said the complainant went to the Airport to meet him but he failed to turn up and at 14 hours the same day, accused persons called to say they were at the La General Hospital to supply medicine to the staff, so the complainant could meet them with $600.

The prosecution said, when the complainant was going, he took his brother, who was a solider along, with a photocopier machine concealed in a box, which he claimed to be counterfeit money detector

He said complainant immediately caused his arrest, during interrogation, Ignatus mentioned Gislian as the source of the exhibit.
