Court grants bail to man for defrauding girlfriend

The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ on Wednesday granted bail in the sum of GH¢7,500 with two sureties to Emmanuel Armah, a 40-year-old software engineer for defrauding his girlfriend.

The court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Plange-Brew, granted Armah the bail after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of defrauding by false pretence.

Chief Inspector Evelyn Susuawu, prosecuting, said Armah who resides in the United States of America was the lover of the complainant, Miss Vida Anyemi, a resident of Mataheko, near Afieaya.

The Prosecutor stated that in November 2011, the complainant informed Armah of her intention to buy a Hyundai saloon car from the USA.

The court heard that the complainant sent 3,000 US Dollars to the accused for the purchase and shipment of the car.

Chief Inspector Susuawu added that Armah failed to fulfill his part of the agreement and was arrested when he returned to Ghana in June this year to attend his mother’s funeral.**
