Court grants 20 million cedis bail to mason for assault

Ejisu (Ash), March 9, GNA- A 26-year-old mason, Yaw Francis standing trial at the Ejisu District Court for assault, has been granted a 20 million-cedi bail with one surety.

He pleaded guilty and would re-appear on Tuesday, March 15. Police Inspector S.S. Kudolo told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that Francis is staying in the same house with the complainant, Mr Kofi Gyasi and his wife who is a niece to Mr Gyasi. He said Francis was fond of coming home late and drunk and insulting every member of the household.

Inspector Kudolo said Francis persuaded his wife’s family, not to end the marriage due to his persistent drinking habit. However, at about 1630 hours on February 28, the accused returned to the house boozed and without provocation began heaping insults on the daughter of Mr Gyasi.

Inspector Kudolo said at a point, Mr Gyasi intervened and pleaded with Francis to stop the insults but that angered him and in his fury picked a stone and hit the right eye of complainant.
