An Accra Fast Track High Court, presided over by Justice Mrs Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwe has fixed June 19, for judgment in the case involving the former boss of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).
The judge has given the defence counsel up to May 15, to file a submission of no case, while the prosecution has June as deadline to file its response.
Mr Abuga Pele, the former National Co-ordinator of GYEEDA and Mr Philip Akpeena Assibit, a representative of Goodwill International Group (GIG), are facing various charges of causing financial loss of 41.1 million Ghana Cedis to the State.
Assibit is being accused of putting in false claims that he had secured a 65-million-dollar World Bank funding for the creation of one million jobs for the youth, which led government to part with GH? 4.1 million.
Mr Pele is also alleged to have entered into a contract with Assibit to engage in activities which have caused financial loss to the State.
They have both pleaded not guilty to all the charges, and are on bail.
The State has so far presented seven prosecution witnesses in the case.
The last prosecution witness, Mrs Diana Adu Anane, the Deputy Staff Officer with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), told the court that during their investigations, they cautioned seven persons.
Mrs Anane said three of them were Mr Clement Kofi Humado, former Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Shaibu Ahmed Gariba, a former Director of the Management Development and Productivity Institute, and Mr Eric Sunu, an Accountant attached to GYEEDA,” she added.
