Court fines two 360 cedis

A Tarkwa Circuit Court has fined Rahman Mohammed a welder, 28, and Sephen Arthur, a 26-year-old driver, 360 Ghana cedis for being on the concession of Goldfields Ghana Limited Tarkwa mine unlawfully.

The convicts, who pleaded guilty, would in default of the fine serve six months imprisonment in hard labour.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante that the complainants are security officers of Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa, while the accused are residents of Brenuakyim.

He said on November 16, the security officers of the mining company were on their usual patrol duty when they spotted the convicts at the old mine area with sample tyre, touch light and a cutlass.

The Prosecutor said they were arrested with the exhibits and handed over to the police and said after investigations, they accused were charged with the offence.
