Court fines teacher for careless driving

A Takoradi Circuit Court on Wednesday fined Fredrick Enninful, a 35-year-old teacher, GHS360 for careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm.

In default, Enninful who pleaded guilty would serve two years imprisonment. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Veronica Tibson told the court presided over by Mr JusticeKwesi Boakye that around 1800 hours on September 25 last year, the convict drove a vehicle loaded with gallons of water from Queen of Peace area en route to Anaji Hills near Takoradi.

She said due to lack of focus, Enninful lost control of the vehicle when climbing the Anaji Hills and the vehicle run into a nearby hairdressers salon, knocking down Helena Mensah, a Hairdresser.

Chief Inspector Tibson said Helena sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for treatment.
