Court fines Pastor for indecent assault

Akim Oda (E/R), May 4, GNA – The Akim Oda Magistrate Court in the Birim Central Municipality, has fined Emmanuel Owusu, Pastor of Agyenkwa Prayer Ministry GH¢150 for indecent assault. The pastor would serve 12 months jail term in hard labour in default. The prosecution told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that the complainant Madam Afia Appiah a farmer at Akroso felt sick, compelling her husband to send her to the Pastor for spiritual deliverance.

At about 2100 hours on March 4, the complainant attended an all-night session at the prayer camp and closed around 0300 hours and was therefore, compelled to sleep at the camp, the prosecutor said. According to the prosecution, the convict seized the opportunity and joined the complainant and forcibly removed her pants and inserted his finger in her private part. The complainant narrated her ordeal to the husband, who accompanied her to make a report to the police leading to the arrest of the pastor.
