Court fines Mankessim Queenmother

Agona Swedru, Oct. 18, GNA – The Agona Swedru High Court, has imposed a fine of GH¢5,000 on the Queen Mother of Mankessim, Nana Ama Amissah for contempt.

In default she would serve 18 months imprisonment. Mr Clement Kwesi Adjei, Counsel for the Regent of Mankessim, Supi Abeka Kuntu told the court presided over by Justice Anthony Kwadwo Yebaoh, that there is a long standing chieftaincy dispute between the Asona Royal Family and the Queen mother at Mankessim. The Defence Counsel said in September this year, Supi Kuntu filed a motion at the Court restraining the Queen mother and the Omanhene of Mankessim from leading the Boribori Fante Afahye festival, which came off on September 11.

The accused person flouted the motion and was therefore slapped with contempt.
