Court fines man for abandoning bregnant concubine

Twifo Praso Praso (C/R), March 30, GNA-Ali Salifu, a wood carver from Twifo Dahumah, who abandoned his sick pregnant concubine, Abena Saah at Twifo Praso Lorry Station where died later was on Friday, sentenced to a fine of 120 Ghana Cedis by Twifo Praso District Magistrate Ccourt Salifu who pleaded guilty to failing to supply another person with the necessaries of health and life will go to prison for nine months in default.

Prosecuting, chief Inspector George Okine told the court, presided over by Mr. Seth Bio-Nyamekye that, the convict and Madam Abena Saah had been staying as man and wife at Twifu Dahumah. Prosecution said on January 26, 2008 Madam Saah felt sick and instead of the convict sending her to the hospital he and his friends dumped her at the Twifo Praso lorry station.

Prosecution said upon a tip-off, the relatives of Madam Saah rushed to the Twifo Praso lorry station and met Madam Saah unconscious. Cchief Inspector Okine told the court that the woman was rushed to the Twifo Prasos Hospital where she died after a premature delivery. A report was made to the police and the convict was arrested at Twifo Dahumah. 30 March 08
