Court fines four traders GH¢1,400 for selling at unauthorised places

The Nyinahin Magistrate Court has sentenced four traders at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District, to a total fine of GH¢1,400.00 for selling their wares at unauthorised places in breach of the assembly’s bye-laws.

Abena Kaminta, Prince Owusu, Sarah Mensah and Vida Afriyie would each pay GH¢350.00 or serve a 14-day prison term in default.

They all pleaded guilty to the offence.

Mr Robert Forson, the Assembly’s Prosecutor, told the court presided over by Mr Sam Nidi Mejida, that the convicts were arrested by members of a Task Force set up by the assembly on April 17.

Persistent warnings to move into a market built for them had gone unheeded.

He said the traders had become a nuisance, obstructing the free movement of both people and vehicles.**
