Court fines driver for causing harm

Kumasi, July 9, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court on Monday imposed a one- million-cedi fine on a driver for negligently causing harm and failing to report an accident to the police.

Imoro Alhaji, who pleaded guilty to the charges, will serve a six-month prison term in default.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Seth Amofa told the court presided over by Mr Essel Mensah that, at about 1400 hours on January 1, this year, Imoro, who drove a Mercedes Benz bus reversed and hit Madam Grace Aboagye at Aboabo.

He said the driver, however, failed to report the accident to the police until the victim herself did so.
