Court dismisses Nyaho-Tamakloe’s contempt case

Accra, March 24, GNA – An Accra High Court on Thursday dismissed an application for contempt filed by Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Chairman of the Ghana Football Association against six members of Congress, the highest decision making body of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The court also awarded a cost of five million cedis against the GFA Chairman.

The six are Mr Justice Ampiah and Alhaji Yussif Adam Ibrahim Chairman and vice chairman of the Congress respectively. The rest include Alhaji Abdul Karim Gruzah, Mr Kofi Manu, Mr Joseph Yaw Appiah and Mr Kojo Yankah.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe filed the application when in February Congress passed a vote of no confidence in him as the Chairman of the GFA. Meanwhile, the court has adjourned the substantive case, which restrained the Executive Council of the GFA from impeaching Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe as the Chairman of the GFA to April 14.

Mr Theodeo’s Sory, counsel for the Executive Council however told the He said they would ask the court to shift the case to April 7. Egbert Fabile Jnr, a member of the legal team of Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe has expressed dismay over the ruling that left the six officials off the hook.

He told the GNA Sports that, “We felt we have presented the best of a case and naturally wanted to win. Surprised?, yes we are, but we are simply not perturbed”.

Mr. Fabile Jnr, however declined any intent of appealing against the ruling, saying, “We have a substantive case to contest and issues such as this would surely not distract our attention”.

He refused to consider the ruling as a setback in their quest to seek justice for the GFA Chairman.

“Our primary aim is to stop any group or individual who seeks to prevent our client from discharging his duties and once that case has not been determined, I seriously don’t see how this must be viewed as a setback”.
