Court convicts two persons for stealing

Aflao, July 23, GNA – Two persons, who were found guilty for conspiracy to steal and stealing, by the Aflao Circuit Court, have been asked to pay a fine of 1.5 million cedis each which is to run concurrently.

Wise Abornyo, 29, a driver and Frank Adu, 27, a trader, who pleaded not guilty, would be jailed for 18 months in default.

The two accused persons where convicted for stealing 40 pieces of Asbestos roofing sheets, valued at about 11 million cedis. A third suspect, identified only as “Taller” is on the run.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kofi Frimpong, told the Court, presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah that on June 15, this year, Abornyo visited Adu who is a co-tenant of the complainant, Mr Yaw Ahadzi, in Avakorme, Aflao.

While there, Abornyo conspired with Adu to steal some roofing sheets packed in the room of the complainant. The two hired the services of a truck pusher in the night and conveyed the sheets to Taller, who led them to one Stanley Abotsi, who paid them an initial amount of two million cedis while he look for a buyer.

Mr Abotsi and the truck pusher, informed the complainant about the items when they realised they were stolen items.
