Court charges man for stealing goats

Kade (E/R), Feb. 13, GNA – Isaac Awuku, unemployed, has appeared before Kade Magistrate’s court for stealing, killing and packing seven goats at Akwatia, he intended to send out of town for sale. He pleaded not guilty to stealing and will reappear on February 25. Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector D. T. Nartey, told the court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Iliasu, that at about 0330 hours on February 9, Kwame Sintim the complainant spotted the accused and two others carrying some items in sacks to the roadside apparently to board a vehicle. He said the complainant who suspected something fishy because of the rampant stealing of livestock in the town informed the police. They rushed to the scene and Awuku and his accomplices abandoned their booty and took to their heels.

They were given a chase leading to the arrest of Awuku. The two suspects however managed to escape. When the sacks were inspected, seven dead goats were found. Awuku however denied any involvement in the crime. The court remanded him in police custody to help in investigations.
