Court bonds farmer for encroaching on wildlife reserve

Assin Fosu (C/R), Aug. 15, GNA – The Assin Fosu District Magistrate’s court has bonded Nii Kwaw, a farmer from Assin Dome, to be of good behaviour for six months, after he was found guilty of unauthorized entry into a wildlife protected area at Assin Homaho.

Kwaw, who pleaded guilty, will in default pay a fine of GHc80.00 or serve three months in jail.

The court ordered that raffia from the forest which was retrieved from Kwa, should be destroyed.

Prosecuting, Inspector Peter Attah told the court that on June six, this year at about 0930 hours, officials of Fosu wildlife division on patrol duties arrested Kwaw while he was cutting raffia for bamboo in the wildlife reserve.
