Court bonds 60-year-old farmer

Kumawu (Ash), Dec. 28, GNA – The Kumawu circuit court has bonded a 60-year-old farmer, who threatened to kill his rival to be of good behaviour for two years. George Amoako, who pleaded guilty to the charge, will pay 10 million cedis or in default serve 12 months prison term. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Daniel Ntow told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that, Amoako forcibly married the wife of Mr Edward Asiamah, the complainant and took her and their seven children away to his house at Bodomase, near Kumawu in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti.

He said on November 23, this year, the accused met the complainant returning from farm and told him to go for his wife and children, since he had left the woman. Inspector Ntow said this generated into a quarrel and onlookers separated them.

The prosecution said Amoako, who was not satisfied, attempted to slash the complainant with a cutlass but the complainant managed to escape to the Bodomase police station to lodge a complaint and the accused was consequently arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
