The Human Rights Court has adjourned to June 18, 2025, for a ruling on a motion filed by former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Mr Ofori-Atta is seeking an order to restrain the OSP from declaring him wanted, as well as a directive for the removal of any such declaration from the OSP’s social media platforms.
The motion was moved by the former minister’s legal team during a hearing held on Tuesday, May 28. The OSP, which is contesting the motion, argued that its actions fall within the legal framework of its investigative mandate.
Presiding over the matter, the court indicated that it would deliver its ruling on June 18, 2025.
The legal standoff follows recent tensions between Mr Ofori-Atta and the Special Prosecutor’s office, which has been investigating alleged financial infractions during his tenure as Finance Minister. Though the OSP has not formally charged Mr Ofori-Atta, it has made public pronouncements indicating interest in his whereabouts.
Mr Ofori-Atta’s legal team maintains that the public notices and declarations infringe on his rights and amount to reputational damage without due process.
