Court adjourns case against Obinim to October 25

Accra, Sept. 26, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court on Monday adjourned to October 25, the case against the Founder of God’s Way International Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim and two others for allegedly vandalising and attacking the host and panel members of Hot FM, a private radio station in Accra.

The other two are Kofi Akwetey, 35, and Kingsley Baah, 27, both Pastors of the church and on bail.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Reindorf Agyemang, prosecuting, prayed the court for the adjournment because the docket had been sent to the Attorney-General’s (A-G’s) Office for advice.

Mr Eric Kyei-Baffour, presiding over the court, obliged and adjourned the case.

However, Mr Kwame Afriyie, Counsel for Obinim, prayed the court to withdraw the case for arbitration and report the outcome to the court, because negotiations for an amicable settlement had begun.

ASP Agyemang told the court that during the night of August 8 this year, there was a discussion on Bishop Obinim’s alleged sex scandal on Hot FM programme “Nyasem Hwe”.

In addition, a voice recording of Bishop Obinim was played on air highlighting issues about his wife and Pastors.

He said on hearing the discussions, the three accused persons rushed to the FM station with an iron bar and began vandalising doors, studio equipment, CD player, electro voice microphones, voice processors, telephones, a recording computer and head phone distributor.

ASP Agyemang said the total cost of the equipment destroyed was not known, and that the accused persons attacked the complainants and other panel members inflicting injuries on them.

He said Mr Shadrack Adu, Host of the programme reported the matter to Adabraka Police Station and the Police went to the station and arrested the accused persons.

ASP Agyemang said the victims were issued with medical forms and were yet to submit their medical reports.
