Couples advised to reduce sexual partners

Nkawie (Ash), Aug 29, GNA- Mrs Beatrice Appah, the Atwima District Director of Health Services, has called on men and women to reduce the number of sexual partners they have.

Mrs Appah said this would reduce the spread of the HIV/AIDS. She was speaking at a workshop for private midwives, chemical sellers and opinion leaders at Nkawie on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The workshop was organised by the Atwima District Health Directorate.

She advised the public not to go to quack doctors for injection since the disease could be acquired through the use of used syringes.

Mrs Appah cautioned the youth who she said, formed the bulk of the productive group, to refrain from pre-marital and unprotected sex. She advised the public to look out for some of the symptoms of the disease, which she said, included diarrhoea for more than one month, severe headaches, rapid weight loss and fever for more than one month.
