Couple in court for threat and assault

Cape Coast, March 3, GNA- The Cape Coast Circuit Court, has granted a couple, a bail of five million cedis with one surety to be justified for assaulting and threatening to kill a retired Army Officer. Nana Kweku Williams, an Electrical Engineer and his wife, Rebecca Orleans Williams, a Caterer, pleaded not guilty and would reappear on Wednesday March 23.

Prosecuting, Chief inspector Hope Azasoo, told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah, that the couple live in the house of a late brother of the complainant, Lt. Col. Nicholas Otoo.

He said the two accused persons were not on good terms with the Army Officer due to a misunderstanding over tenancy agreement. Chief Inspector Azasoo said the complainant reported to the Police that he visited the house in the company of a civil engineer at 2200 hours on October 20, last year, but Rebecca prevented them from entering.

He said while the ex-soldier was forcing his way through Rebecca exerted pressure on his left hand, which had got stucked in a door leading to his injury.

Inspector Azasoo said Rebecca’s husband appeared on the scene and threatened to kill Col. Otoo if did not leave the house.
