Kumasi, Sept 18, GNA- A Kumasi circuit court on Thursday remanded George Asante, a driver and his fianc=E9e, Cecilia Gyamfi, a trader, for allegly causing the murder of their six-month-old baby.
Their pleas were not taken and they will appear again on September 25.
Asante, 37, was said to have ran over the baby with his vehicle during a scuffle with Cecilia, aged 22.
Police Chief Inspector John K. Aful told the court that on August 11, Cecilia went to Asante at the Anwomaso Car Washing Bay near Kumasi to demand money to send the baby to the hospital.
He said an argument ensued when Asante told Cecilia that he had no money.
Cecilia held Asante’s shirt and a scuffle ensued and in the heat of it Asante got into a Nissan Urvan mini bus that had been parked at the washing bay and ran over the baby who fell during the scuffle. He said when the baby was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital he was pronounced dead.
