Counselling centres inaugurated in Sekyere West

Apaa (Ash), July 3, GNA – Three HIV/AIDS and career counselling centres established in Benim, Kwamang and Apaa all in the Sekyere West District of Ashanti have been inaugurated.

They were set up by the Women and Youth Development Network (FOWDYN), a non-governmental organisation in collaboration with the Ghana AIDS Commission at a total cost of 12 million cedis. The NGO also used the occasion to inaugurate AIDS clubs dubbed “Focus Clubs”, formed in basic schools in the tree communities. Miss Mary Opokuaa Ansong, Executive Director of the FOWDYN, appealed to the people, especially the youth to patronise the centres to ensure the realisation of the objectives for which they were established.

Miss Perpetual Ama Gyamfi, Project Director of the NGO, said discussions at the centres would be in confidence and asked the people to consider the centres as their own facilities. The NGO presented certificates to six counsellors trained to run the centres.
