Council of State okays appointments of CDS, IGP

The Council of State has counseled President Akufo-Addo to confirm the appointments of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces.

Mr. David Asante-Apeatu and Maj. Gen. Obed Boamah Akwa have been acting as IGP and CDS respectively since Akufo-Addo assumed office.

Pursuant to Articles 202 and 212 of the Constitution, President Akufo-Addo also confirmed the appointment of Maj. Gen. William Azure Ayamdo as Chief of Army Staff.

The said appointments take effect forthwith, according to Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency.
