Cape Coast, Feb. 23, GNA – The Central Regional Coordinating Council, has appealed to traders at the Kasoa old market to cooperate and move to the new market by the end of February. It made the appeal in a press release issued and signed by Mr Michael Essandoh, Central Regional Coordinating Director at Cape Coast on Wednesday in reaction to media reports about relocation of the market.
The Council said two bore holes, electricity, a place of convenience and a car park had been provided at the new market in addition to 25 security lights while efforts were being made to provide potable water from Kwanyako.
The release expressed concern about a few people trying to withhold relocation of the market, after most of the traders had agreed to relocate, after series of durbars and meetings with their representatives and authorities.
It warned that the old market would be demolished after the deadline, and asked all those affected to remove their goods by the deadline, adding: “The Government will not be responsible for any damage during the demolition exercise since compensation had been paid to affected traders and enterprises.” 23 Feb. 06
