Council for Law Reporting Office gutted

Accra, 15 May, GNA – Fire on Tuesday gutted the office of the Assistant Editor of the Council for Law Reporting and Legal Aid Scheme and destroyed documents, office equipment and personal items of the Editor.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Mr Daniel Saukah, Editor of the Ghana Law Reports, said the Assistant Editor, who was then in his office, rushed out to report the incident to his colleagues, who called the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ministries Police.

He said the Council lost valuable documents but “we are trying to retrieve what is on the hard disk”.

It took the GNFS about 15 minutes to arrive at the scene and onlookers at the Kpando Station, who were apparently dissatisfied with the time it took the GNFS to arrive and the way they were going about their work, started jeering at them Mr Emmanuel Quaye of the Accra-Makola Market Fire Service Station said it took his men about 40 minutes to put out the fire.
