Tema, July 10, GNA – The Council for Technical and Vocational Education Training (COTVET) of the Ministry of Education on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with management of the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) for the placement of some students of the Council at CPC for practical attachment.
The three-month attachment would enable the students in pilot technical and vocational institutions who are being trained in Competency-Based Training (CBT) to gain workplace experience at the various companies.
Mr Dan Baffour-Wuah, Executive Director of COTVET, signed for the Council, while Mr Richard Armarh Tetteh, Managing Director of CPC, initialled for his company.
Mr Baffour-Wuah said under the educational reforms everything possible was being done to make CBT in technical and vocational institutions in the country more industry-driven so that the students after the entire training would be better equipped with skills for the job market.
The Executive Director hoped the MOU would help establish an initial collaboration between COTVET and CPC and therefore advised the students to avail themselves of the opportunities at the company and to prove themselves worthy ambassadors of the Council.
He urged them to adhere strictly to the code of ethics of the company.
Ms Akiko Nishibuchi, expert for CBT training management whose organisation, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is providing the technical support and assistance to COTVET, witnessed the signing of the MOU.
Mr Charles Asante, Deputy Managing Director of CPC in Charge of Operations; Mr Tim Essandoh, Deputy Managing Director of Finance and Administration; Mr Stephen Ofori-Adjei, Solicitor-Secretary; Mr Ekow Rhule, Senior Public Relations Manager and Mrs Herta Aidoo, Acting Human Resource Manager, all of CPC, were also present at the signing ceremony.
