Corruption in Ghana has assumed “frightening proportions”, former CHRAJ boss, Emile Short has observed.
According to him, the spate of the canker appears to be rising because the state’s reaction to corruption scandals has been mild over the years.
His comment comes on the heels of recent reports of corruption scandals in several state organizations, the latest being the 8 million Cedis fraud at the NSS.
It followed reports of the alleged financial misappropriation involving the Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative Justice.
Speaking on News File on private station, Joy, Saturday, Justice Short said until government resorts to stiffer punishment to deter corrupt people, the menace will continue.
He is said corruption is part of the human institution and can only be rid of by severely punishing offenders when exposed.
He advised that conscious efforts must be made at depoliticizing the subject of corruption in order to confront it effectively
