The Police Administration has ordered an administrative trial of policemen for their failure to provide adequate security at the residence of former Vice-President, John Evans Atta Mills, which led to his vehicle being broken into by thieves.
They are Sergeant Michael Dorkpoh and Constable Joseph Boateng.
Administrative trials are conducted by the Police Service to prosecute offending service personnel, during which the accused usually has the right to the choice of counsel.
The officer conducting the trial has 21 days to submit his verdict and on conviction, the accused may be summarily dismissed or be removed from the service.
The director of the police public relations, Chief Superintendent David Ampah Bennin, told the paper yesterday that preliminary findings submitted by the director of Police CID revealed lapses and misconduct on the part of the two policemen.
It was recently reported that thieves broke into the Toyota Landcruiser vehicle of Professor Mills at his house at the Regimanuel Estate, East Airport, and took away some items, including a radio set.
