Cops killing suspects ‘unacceptable’ – Muntaka

Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has said that he is “really devastated” by news that two suspects in police custody were shot and killed in the Ashanti Region.

The two, Lukeman Mohammed and Awudu Osman were gunned down by officers on Thursday, November 9 after they allegedly attempted to escape from custody.

The MP for Asawase, who was contributing to discussions in parliament on Friday, November 10 said: “Last night I heard there was a lot of massing up at Aboabo in my constituency”.

He said he had to intervene to calm down the youth to prevent any chaos as efforts are made to investigate the matter.

“Mr Speaker, my biggest worry is that all of us can be picked up one time or the other as suspects but to die in the custody of the police cannot be accepted,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister for the Interior Ambrose Dery has been summoned to appear before Parliament to answer questions in connection with the shooting and killing of the two suspects.
