EASTON – A city man serving time in Northampton County Prison for stabbing his wife in 2000 is charged with threatening to kill her while he was riding a bus on work release.
Clifford K. Fordjour, 37, who is serving a three- to five-year sentence, allegedly threatened the woman Thursday on a LANTA bus near South Third and Pine streets, according to police documents.
Fordjour saw Comfort Fordjour, his now-estranged wife, while they were both riding on the bus, police said.
“You scared, you fear, I’m going to kill you,” is what Fordjour, a native of Ghana, said to her, according to police documents.
Clifford Fordjour has twice pleaded guilty to assaults on Comfort Fordjour, records say.
On June 1, 2000, Fordjour stabbed his wife in the 100 block of East St. Joseph Street. Court documents say Comfort Fordjour dropped a toddler she was holding when her husband chased her down the street before stabbing her. The Fordjours’ two children witnessed the stabbing, records say. Clifford Fordjour later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges stemming from the incident.
He also pleaded guilty to assault charges filed after he grabbed Comfort Fordjour by the hair and bit her during an argument in April 2000, records say.
For his alleged actions on the bus, Fordjour is charged with retaliation against a witness and terroristic threats. He was arraigned before District Justice Gay Elwell, who set bail at $250,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 4 before Elwell.
