Contractors have failed to support government – DCE

Nkwantakese (Ash), Jan 11, GNA – Mr Ben Abankwa, the Afigya-Sekyere District Chief Executive, has lashed at contractors and said they had failed to support the government in its bid to improve infrastructure in the country.

He said while some contractors unnecessarily delayed projects, those who finished theirs did shoddy job and ”in all these cases, they are fully paid.”

Speaking during the inspection of development projects, Mr Abankwa said though the government had paid the contractors working on the bungalow for the District Director of Education and the Kyekyewere Community Centre, the contractors had abandoned the projects. He said in view of the behaviour of contractors in the district, the assembly would review all contracts and re-award some to competent contractors.

Mr Abankwa said his administration would not sit down unconcerned for “stomach contractors” to make the government unpopular and urged those who have not completed their projects or those who have abandoned theirs to turn a new leaf.
