Contract to replace lifts at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital

Accra, June 7, GNA – Management of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Mon day said contract on the replacement of lifts at the hospital had been awarde d and work would commence soon.

At a press briefing in Accra, Professor Nii Otu Nartey, Chief Execut ive Officer of the Hospital, said 13 lifts would be replaced with priority at

the maternity and surgical blocks.

He gave the assurance that the work would be undertaken in such a manner that it would not create inconvenience to clients of the hospital. Prof. Otu Nartey explained that management initiated the process to replace the lifts and although the process was slow, had been meticulousl y followed and the Central Tender Review Board on Friday, June 4, gave approval to the Hospital’s Tender Board to complete the process. He said the GH¢2.4 million contract had been awarded adding “the b oard and management have worked tirelessly to have the lifts replaced and woul d not rest until completion”.

Prof. Otu Nartey commended government for financing the project and noted that the new lifts would have power surge regulators to contain pow er outages. “The hospital’s engineers would be trained to maintain them after installation,” he added. 7 June 10
