Consultative workshop on poverty underway in Bongo

Bongo (U/E), July 20, GNA – A five-day consultative workshop to design a special pilot programme to reduce poverty among destitutes in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region is underway.

The workshop, which began at Bongo on Monday, is part of the national Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) and is aimed at redefining specific programmes designed by the district assemblies’, as part of the pilot scheme that will cover 20 districts.

Participants are expected to develop a procedural manual and other interventions to benefit programme beneficiaries. Mr David Kobo, facilitator at the workshop, said the vulnerable in society had a direct connection with poverty.

The World Bank sponsored programme, is to facilitate Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS) programme.
