Consider track record of contending political parties-CPP

Sunyani (B/A), Sept. 1, GNA- The Convention People’s Party (CPP), has called on Ghanaians to consider the track record of political parties contending the 2008 Election before casting their vote. Mr. Richmond Lankwei Lamptey, campaign manager of the CPP, who made the call, said, “Voters are sophisticated and have assessed the work of the parties and know which party is capable of moving the nation to a higher standard and would not make any mistake this year”. He was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, at eh close of the party’s three-day second monitoring tour of Upper West and Brong-Ahafo regions, during which he visited Nandom, Kaleo, Wenchi, Nkoranza and Sunyani.

Mr. Lamptey said “The CPP is working effectively in all the constituencies to identify people who would vote for the party in the forth-coming election”. He said that the CPP had done enough to clinch victory in the polls and advised the party’s supporters not to be deceived by other parties to join them.

Mr. Lamptey said the NPP National Executive Committee (NEC) recognizing that the party’s structures were not formidable, instituted measures that enabled it to register about 100,000 new members. He said “This kind of enthusiasm that the people have shown for our party indicates clearly CPP’s chances of winning the elections”. Mr. Lamptey said the CPP was national in character devoid of discrimination and said apart from Nkoranza, Wenchi and Sunyani West constituencies, the party “does not have any problems in the Brong Ahafo region” and urged the regional executives to focus on these areas.
