The preferred choices of the sitting presidency and the Castle in the election of national officers to steer the affairs of the New Patriotic Party have all lost hands down. This is in spite of various secret efforts by the agents from the presidency get men steer the affairs of the ruling NPP party.
The delegates refused to sell their conscience for monies and hence elected members of their own choice with the exception of one believed to have come from under the Castle platform. At this year?s National Delegated Conference held on the campus of the University of Ghana ? Legon, the delegates voted by virtue of who they felt would serve the NPP party and not for persons who would toe the path of the presidency.
The obvious happened when the suspected Castle favourite Mr Stephen Ayensu Ntim who was vying for the position of the National Party Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. He lost to his contender Mr Peter Mac Manu who happens to be the immediate past Western Regional Chairman of the party and who was said to be supported from the Party headquarters.
Mr Peter Mac Manu won by 711 votes as against Mr Stephen Ayensu Ntim who had 635 votes, hence making Mr Mac Manu the chairman of the New Patriotic Party. In the election of candidates for the positions of the National Youth Organiser, Mr John Boadu polled 785 votes to beat his closest contender Abdul Bawa who secured 146 votes. The National Organiser, Mr Lord Oblitey Commey, retained his position with 697 followed by his Alhaji Muktah Bamba with 603, and Iddrisu Musah Superior with 56 votes.
For the position of National Treasurer, Madam Gifty Aryee alias Daavi Ama polled 841 against Mr Kwasi Acquah who polled 505. On the Vice Chairpersons position, Madam Hawa Yakubu, polled 1,184, the highest vote pulled by a single candidate, to sweep the seat from her opponents to win the 1st Vice Chairmanship. She was followed by Mrs Agnes Okujoto, who secured 532 to win the 2nd Vice-Chairpersonman, the 3rd Vice-Chairman position was also secured by Mr Abdul Rahman with 368 followed by the others.
The only position that the Castle and the Presidency swept was the position of General Secretary which was won by the Governments Spokesperson on Finance, Nana Ohene Ntow with 609, followed by Mr Abeiku Dickson securing 479, Mustapha Hamid with 164 votes, Mr Kwadjo Afari with 23, leaving Mr Frances Kojo Smith with 9 votes.
