Congratulations Hon.John Dramani Mahama – NDC Canada

NDC Canada wishes to congratulate Hon. John Dramani Mahama, MP for Bole-Bamboi, on his selection as the Vice Presidential Candidate for Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The choice of Hon. John Dramani Mahama among equally credible and capable personalities like Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, wife of former Defence Minister Mahama Iddrisu, the Minority Leader of the Ghanaian Parliament Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin and Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Running mate of Prof. Mills in the 2004 elections was a difficult one but definitely the right one. The credentials of these personalities speak for themselves that; the NDC has the qualified personalities to lead Ghana come January 7, 2009.

The choice of Hon. John Dramani Mahama, which was unanimously endorsed, by National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Council of Elders of the NDC should put to rest the heated debate generated in the weeks leading to this announcement. It is time to re-unite the NDC as one family once again for a common purpose that is to win the December 7, 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. We in NDC Canada wish to congratulate all the other short-listed personalities for this Vice Presidential Candidate position and everyone who have helped in making this selection process an exciting and fruitful exercise.

The choice of Hon John Dramani Mahama is a good omen for Ghana. It is an opportunity to change the tune of the scandals, the cocaine, the corruption, the insensitivity and the arrogant kind of leadership Ghanaians have known for the past 7 years of Kufour rule. It is an opportunity to provide the kind of leadership that this country needs to move forward as a nation among other successful nations of the world. This will back, once more the Ghanaian pride. It is an indication that the NDC as a national party is set and ready to lead Ghanaians out of too much suffering in the land handed down upon our good people by 7 years of wrong governance and choices of the Kufour led NPP government.

Hon John Dramani Mahama is charismatic, humble, and credible. He has the right kind of mental capacity a leader needs to lead Ghana. The John Atta Mills and John Dramani ticket is stronger than ever. It is a formidable winning team. A team with solid credentials that can attract votes from young people, men and women from all regions, irrespective of tribal persuasions, gender inclination or religious affiliations. It is a final warning signal to this corrupt, arrogant and insensitive NPP regime that Ghanaians have had enough of the Golden Age of cocaine and their days of mess are numbered. Ghanaians certainly deserve better.

NDC Canada is of the opinion that NDC has found the right man for the job of a Vice Presidential Candidate and if there is any time in our nation’s history that our people yearn for the real meaning of leadership, it is now. We therefore, call on all and sundry to shelve differences generated during the selection process, re-unite once again as a one family and allow the collective interest of the party reign supreme solidly behind two of the finest gentlemen of our land, John Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama to move Ghana forward. We warn that posterity will never forgive the NDC if we allow our internal personal differences to destroy our collective interest to win the 2008 general elections. We wish to thank all Ghanaians and the media in particular for the excellent contribution towards this successful selection process.

Victory for the John Atta Mills – John Dramani Mahama Team Long Live the NDC and God Bless Ghana. Eye Zu!!! Eye Za!!!

Charles N. Nkansah (On-behalf of NDC Canada)
